About Webster University
Webster University is a Missouri school that was established in 1915. The private college has its main campus in Webster Groves, as well as various branch locations across the country. More than 22,000 students attend classes at the university, and those students hail from all fifty states and 140 countries. Approximately 1,800 academic staff work at the university. Once known as Loretto College, the school was originally affiliated with the Catholic Church and became non-denominational later in its existence. The school was one of the first colleges for women that was located west of the Mississippi River. Male students were first admitted in the early 1960s, and the school was also one of the earliest schools to fight for integration. The school’s official colors are navy, white, and gold, and the school’s sports teams play as the Gorloks in NCAA Division III games.
Webster University Accreditation Details
The Higher Learning Commission has accredited the university to offer undergraduate and graduate degrees at all of its locations. The university is also approved by the Missouri Department of Higher Education. Since the university operates campuses in several states around the country, the institution has gained approval to operate in several states. For example, the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education has licensed the programs offered at Arizona’s Luke Air Force Base, and the programs in Arkansas at Little Rock Air Force Base have been certified by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. The university also holds specialized accreditation for many of its programs including accreditation for the nurse anesthesia program from the Council of Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs and accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education for its programs in education.
Webster University Application Requirements
Webster University accepts applications on a rolling basis and begins its application review upon receiving the official application and all necessary supporting documents. For admission consideration, undergraduate students must submit the online application, a nonrefundable application fee of $35, official high school transcripts, and copies of test scores from the SAT or ACT. International students must submit proof of English language proficiency. Some applicants may need to submit additional materials that may include a personal essay, a letter of recommendation, and a resume detailing school or professional experience. Students who want to attend an online program at Webster University will need to meet the same admission standards and submit the same materials as students interested in on-campus admission.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for full-time students in undergraduate programs is $27,700 per year and students in the Conservatory program pay $32,100 per year. Students who enroll in more than 18 hours in a single semester will pay $710 per credit hour for every hour above 18. Part-time tuition is also $710 per credit hour. Metropolitan campuses are $490 per credit hour for undergraduate courses, and students in online undergraduate programs pay $710 per credit hour. Active duty military, reserve, and National Guard students pay reduced rates of $250 to $555 per credit hour. Graduate students will pay tuition for each credit hour they enroll in with rates varying by campus. Tuition generally varies between $615 and $780 per credit hour. All students may pay additional fees based on their program of study and their location, as well as whether they attend classes on campus or online.
Financial aid awards are issued through the Office of Financial Aid in Saint Louis. To apply for financial aid students must first fill out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete entrance counseling to qualify for loans through the federal government’s Stafford loan program. Students may qualify for traditional student loans, Federal Work-Study awards, grants, and scholarships from a variety of sources. Students may also apply for loans through private banks. Some of the grants available that offer funds a student doesn’t need to repay include Pell Grants, Webster University Grants, Access Missouri Grants, and TEACH Grants.
