Saint Leo University is a private, Catholic university that nonetheless has a long tradition of welcoming students of all faiths. Established in 1889 by the Order of Saint Benedict of Florida, it is the oldest Catholic institution of higher learning in the state, with its main campus located about 30 miles north of Tampa in Central Florida. According to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” list, Saint Leo is consistently ranked among the top universities in the South.
