Saint Joseph’s University offers programs at five levels of study that include undergraduate, graduate business, graduate arts & sciences, adult learner, and online learner levels. Students may choose to take classes on campus in Philadelphia or online. The university is divided into the College of Arts & Sciences and the Haub School of Business and also offers degrees through the Haub Degree Completion program and the Program of Professional & Liberal Studies. Overall, students may enroll in more than 60 undergraduate programs and more than 50 graduate programs. The school also runs 28 study abroad programs and has 12 special-study options. Students may also enroll in a co-op program or enroll in one of the joint-degree programs.

The university’s most popular programs are in management, business, marketing, social sciences, education, communication, and journalism. Students who want to take their classes online have many topics and focuses from which to choose, which range from the study of autism to criminal justice to English as a second language. Many of the degrees are not only offered online but are also offered on campus. Some of the undergraduate degrees a student might choose to pursue include the Associate of Business Administration in Business Administration, the Bachelor of Science in Psychological Studies, the Bachelor of Science in General Studies, and the Bachelor of Science in General Studies with an Autism Concentration.

At the graduate level, many of the degrees offered are centered on the study of business and education. Students who want to complete their program with less time spent in school may want to consider one of the certificate programs offered by Saint Joseph’s University. About Saint Joseph’s University

Often referred to as St. Joe’s by its students and faculty, Saint Joseph’s University is a Roman Catholic Jesuit university in Philadelphia. A handful of the faculty members teaching at the university are Jesuits. The school was founded by the Jesuits in 1851 and was called St. Joseph’s College. The school has around 9,200 students attending classes at its Philadelphia location, as well as through its online education portal. Sports teams at the university are known as the Hawks, and students play in NCAA Division I games on 20 different varsity teams. The school’s official colors are gray and crimson. All students who enroll at the university participate in the school’s General Education Program, which requires that students complete a core of liberal arts courses as part of their curriculum.

Saint Joseph’s University Accreditation Details

Regional accreditation for Saint Joseph’s University is granted by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Higher Education. Programs offered by the Erivan K. Haub School of Business are accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Programs in business and accounting are both accredited by the AACSB, and the business school is also a member of the University Alliance program of SAP Business One. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET). The university is also a member school of Alpha Epsilon Lambda, which is the nation’s interdisciplinary honor society.

Saint Joseph’s University Application Requirements

To apply to Saint Joseph’s University, students will submit their official application online, as well as provide supplemental materials as required by the university and the degree program the student wishes to pursue. Supplemental materials include a high school transcript, a letter of academic recommendation, a personal essay, and an early decision agreement for any student applying under the Early Decision option. Students must also send a $50 non-refundable application fee. Optional items include standardized test scores, an interview, and a resume. Students who want to apply for need-based aid must submit a Social Security number. The application process for graduate students requires the completed application, transcripts, a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and a $35 application fee. Some programs may require additional items.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate tuition at Saint Joseph’s University is $44,794 and is the same for all students living in the state of Pennsylvania, as well as those outside the state. Students who enroll in credits beyond 17 will pay an additional $1,492 per credit. Tuition for graduate students is based on the program and is charged by the credit hour. Graduate programs in health administration, criminal justice, and public safety are $870 per credit. The Master of Science in Psychology is $953 per credit, and the online business degree program is $1,043 per credit.

Students may apply for federal student aid by submitting their FAFSA at the same time they apply to the university. Students who apply to Saint Joseph’s University are automatically considered for merit scholarships. Some of those scholarships include the Academy of Food Marketing Scholarship, the Jesuit Preparatory Scholarship, various Legacy Awards, and a selection of merit-based academic scholarships. Some scholarships from Saint Joseph’s University require a separate application, and students should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission for information on submitting an additional scholarship application.
