Park University Top Degree Programs

Park University is a comprehensive university that offers both associate and bachelor programs for undergrads and a number of graduate programs. Not only can students take classes online and on the university’s main campus, but they can also enroll in a program on one of its regional campuses, which it calls campus centers. Those centers are in more than 40 areas across the country.

There are more than 40 Bachelor of Arts, Science, Fine Arts and Music programs available from the university. Its Bachelor of Social Work ranks as one of the state’s top social work programs because it includes fieldwork and classroom work. Students can also study secondary education and other forms of education, which will require that they do teaching experiences in the field. Those experiences can help them earn their teaching licenses too. Other popular majors for undergrads include multimedia journalism, philosophy, marketing, interior design, management and information and computer science.

Park also offers some certificate programs. Two of those certificates are part of its continuing education college, which allows students to further their education. The digital forensics certificate teaches students the fundamentals of preserving and collecting data online. Its intelligence analysis program focuses more on doing research and tracking changes online. Certificate programs are available for undergrads too such as its human resources management certificate, which looks at issues such as employment law and hiring principles. Graduate students can earn certificates in fields that include emergency and disaster management, human resources management, music performance and finance.

Park University now offers 12 different graduate programs too. Many of its social work undergrads enroll in its Master of Social Work program after they graduate to enhance their skills. Its Master of Business Administration program is quite popular among those who want to study business and management as well as related subjects at the graduate level. It offers multiple Master of Education programs too that can teach students good leadership skills. One of its education programs features courses on leadership and education laws. It can help students meet the state requirements for becoming a school principal.

About Park University

Park University is a nonprofit independent private university in Missouri. Founded as Park College in 1875, it launched with a program called the Parkville Experiment. Students agreed to work for the college and do jobs on its campus in exchange for free room and board and tuition. A number of problems led to the college ending the experiment and offering traditional programs instead. Mackay Hall is one of the more popular buildings on the campus. Dating back to the late 19th century, this building is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

Named for Parkville, which is home to its main campus, Park University now has a Graduate School, which is in Kansas City. It also three other campuses around that school and regional centers in more than 20 states. Those more than 40 campuses allow students to earn the same degrees that they would on the Parkville campus. Students can also take classes online from Park. Military Times ranks Park as one of the best online colleges for military students and as the nation’s top private university. U.S. News and World Report ranks it as one of the best Midwestern colleges in the United States. Park University has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students.

Park University Accreditation Details

Park University has the regional accreditation that lets transfer students come to the university from another school and take their full credits to another campus. It also allows those with any need to apply for financial aid. Its regional accreditation comes from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCACS). Park University has accreditation from the Accreditation Commercial for Education in Nursing, Commission on English Language Program Accreditation and other organizations for its degree programs too.

Park University Application Requirements

It takes undergrads around 30 minutes to complete the Park online application, which consists of several different sections. They need to list when or how they want to take classes, the session when they want to start, the name of their high schools and what classes they took that prepared them for college. Students must also have a credit card, which they will use to pay the application fee. Undergrads may need to supply test scores and transcripts as part of the application process too.

Graduate students can also fill out the application in just 30 minutes. They must list which campus they want to attend or if they want to take online courses, but they can also select the main Parkville campus on the application. Students will also include details regarding what degrees they have, where they went to school and the date they earned that degree. The application also asks for the names and addresses of the college(s) they attended and for a fee that students can pay with a credit card. They may need to supply letters of recommendation, a personal essay, a writing sample, test score and/or resume also.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The main Park campus in Parkville charges a tuition rate of $415 per credit hour for undergrads and $560 for graduate students. Undergrads who take classes online or on any other campus pay $399 per credit hour. The university offers a discount for active duty military students that lowers their rate to$20 per credit. Veterans and federal employees, as well as their dependents, qualify for a discount that lowers their undergrad tuition to $346 per credit hour. Graduate students can qualify for some of these same discounts, which will reduce their rates to $408 to $577 per credit hour.

Any student can receive a financial aid package from the university that includes both institutional and government aid. Government aid can come from the state and/or the federal government and include loans that students pay back and grants that they do not. They may work for Park in some capacity as part of the federal work study program too. Institutional aid includes any of the university’s scholarships, which include endowed and academic scholarships. Scholarships are available for incoming freshmen who never attended college before and transfer students. These scholarships can help Park University students in any of its degree programs afford the cost of their classes.
