Options for Online and Traditional Degrees at Florida Institute of Technology

Florida Institute of Technology offers students degrees ranging from certificate programs to doctoral level programs. Students can choose to study online, at the main campus located in Melbourne, FL, or at one of the satellite education centers scattered throughout the state and the country. As Florida’s official STEM university, the majority of program offerings are heavily involved with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields, and strong ties to the space program and NASA means strong preparation for careers involved in continuing space exploration and aeronautics, among others.
FIT offers many online associate’s degrees such as applied psychology, aviation management, liberal arts, healthcare management, and more.
Most undergraduate degrees from each of the four Colleges that make up Florida Tech are offered on campus only, with the exception of several within the Bisk College of Business. Students interested in an undergraduate degree in business have the option of pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in one of the Business Administration concentrations either on campus, online or as a hybrid of the two. Concentrations include Accounting, Marketing, Computer Information Systems, and Healthcare Management.
Similarly, undergraduate programs offered both on campus and online through the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts include a BA in Criminal Justice, with or without a concentration on Homeland Security. The College of Aeronautics offers a BA degree program in Aviation Management available both online and on campus, and the College of Engineering and Science offers a BS in Computer Information Systems that is available both online and on campus. Otherwise, most undergraduate programs are mainly offered as on-campus only options.
Students looking to earn a graduate degree have much wider options for on-campus or online study. The Master of Business Administration is offered completely online only, whether a general MBA or with any one of the concentrations offered. Concentrations include an MBA in Cybersecurity, Global Supply Chain Management, and Healthcare Management.
In addition, students can earn a Master of Science in Administration (MSA) in Aviation Management or in Aviation Safety, an MS in Information Technology with either a concentration in Cybersecurity or Database Administration, an MS in Space Systems or Space Systems Management, in Technology Management, or in Commercial Enterprise in Space, all completely online.

Florida Institute of Technology Accreditation Details
Overall regional accreditation is provided to Florida Institute of Technology through the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges for all degree levels offered. Individual colleges and programs within those colleges have also achieved subject-specific accreditations. These include programs within the College of Aeronautics, accredited through the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI), within the Bisk College of Business through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and within the College of Engineering and Science through ABET.
Florida Institute of Technology Application Requirements
Prospective first-time college students are considered based on freshman admissions criteria, which includes submission of high school or GED transcripts and standardized test scores for either the SAT or ACT, along with a completed application. A letter of recommendation is also necessary, and an essay responding to one of the prompts listed in the Common Application is strongly encouraged.
Florida tech uses a holistic approach when considering admission at any level, so specific GPAs and test scores are not always provided. However, prospective students should still try to show that they successfully completed rigorous science and math offerings during their high school career when seeking admission. Graduate level criteria is a bit more specific, requiring proof of an undergraduate degree in a related subject or field and a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered for admission into a Master level program or a 3.2 minimum on all prior graduate-level work for admission consideration into a doctoral level program.
Students seeking online admission face somewhat more relaxed requirements. Those applying for an undergraduate degree should complete and submit the online application and either official high school or GED transcripts or official transcripts showing previous college coursework completed. Standardized test scores are not required, but students must have earned a grade of C- or higher on all previous coursework. Graduate students also submit the online application and a transcript request form. Florida Tech will then collect previous college transcripts on behalf of the student. No GRE or GMAT is required.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition at Florida Tech is based on degree level, the location of the classes, and the number of credit hours taken each semester. Full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree on the Melbourne campus pay $18,730 per semester for majors outside of the College of Engineering and Science and $20,550 for majors within that college. For part-time, under 12 credit hours per semester course loads, students pay $1,170 per credit hour. Undergraduate students at a satellite education center pay $250 per credit hour, while online undergraduate courses cost $510 per credit hour.
Graduate course tuition can vary even more widely. Graduate courses offered at the satellite education centers cost $600 per credit hour across the board. Online courses taken toward an MS or MA degree cost $777 per credit hour, while any online MBA programs cost $896 per credit hour. Beyond that, graduate tuition for courses taken on campus in Melbourne is assessed based on the subject area being pursued and can exceed $1000 per credit hour in some subject areas.
Financial aid is available in the usual forms of scholarships, grants, and loans. Students are encouraged to start by filling out and submitting the FAFSA, as this offers the most comprehensive means of determining financial need and the widest variety of options for aid.
