Scholarships for adult students can help to take the stress out of locating funds for one’s education and training. It can be quite stressful trying to find the funds for tuition and other educational expenses, and this is especially true for adults who do not qualify for federal aid or who have used up all of their federal funds. But the good news is that there are many great scholarships for older students, and five of the best are described in the following sections.
1. The Return 2 College Scholarships
A great scholarship for adult students who are looking to return to school is the $1,000 Return 2 College Scholarship. The deadline to submit an application for this scholarship is January 31 of each year, and applicants can visit the Return 2 College website to fill out and submit an application. To qualify for the award, they must be a U.S. citizen, 17 years old or older, and either a part or full-time student. They will also need to submit a short paragraph explaining why they want to earn their degree of choice.
2. Unigo Scholarships
Unigo is an online company that is dedicated to providing funds to help aspiring college and university students obtain the funds they need for their educational goals. They offer a large variety of scholarships for all age groups including adults. They are currently offering just over a dozen scholarships with awards ranging from $1,500 to as high as $10,000. More scholarships are offered as they become available. Requirements for each scholarship may vary, but students can visit the Unigo website to browse available scholarships and apply for one or more that suits them best.
3. The College JumpStart Scholarships
Another excellent scholarship for adult students is the College JumpStart Scholarship. This scholarship is offered in the fall and spring of each year and is based on academic achievement. It is open to both high school students as well as adults who would like to return to college and earn their degrees. The award for the College JumpStart Scholarship is $1,000 that can be used for tuition and other college-related expenses. The deadlines to apply for these scholarships are mid-October and mid-April of each year.
4. The AfterCollege Succoro Scholarships
Yet another terrific scholarship for adult students is the AfterCollege Succoro Scholarship. Much like Unigo, AfterCollege is an online company that is dedicated to helping students obtain the funds they need to complete their education. To be eligible for the AfterCollege Succoro Scholarship, students must be 18 years old or older, a U.S. citizen, and enrolled in a program leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree. They must also have an overall 2.5-grade point average or higher, and they will need to complete a profile on the AfterCollege website.
5. The Imagine America Scholarships
The Imagine America Foundation also offers a great scholarship program for adult students returning to school. This scholarship is known as the Imagine America Scholarship, and it offers $1,000 to adult students to spend on tuition and other school-related expenses. Students must be 19 years or older and will need to create a profile on the Imagine America website. After they complete their profile, they must then complete a simple student competency test, after which they can complete and submit the scholarship application.
